Duane Grow Obituary

Duane Loe Grow
April 18, 1931 - December 5, 2012
Duane Loe Grow was born on April 18, 1931 in Ogden, Utah to parents, J. Wayne Grow and Lottie (Barker) Grow. He passed away on December 5, 2012 in Nampa, Idaho at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. His siblings include: J. Keith Grow of Nampa, Idaho, Marco Grow of Hurricane, Utah, JoAn Cooper of Littlefield, Arizona, Donna Currier of Hemet, California, and Warren Grow (deceased). His surviving children are Matthew Grow of Sheridan, Montana and Heidi LaRoy of Challis, Idaho.
Duane grew up in Huntsville, Utah farming with his family. Later, he lived in Meridian, Idaho for a time with his parents. He went on a mission as a young man for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Southern States mission. He also served in the Nauvoo, Illinois restoration project rebuilding the blacksmith shop and working with his father, Wayne, on other edifices there.
Duane married Ginger (Peterson) Meeks and they were blessed with two children. They lived in south Boise. He worked for many years as a custodian for Albertsons Foods, the rebuilding shop for the Union Pacific Railroad, and later in life for the Deseret Industries in Boise, Idaho.
Duane will be remembered for his quick wit and jovial nature. He loved his children and the Lord, Jesus Christ. He loved and honored his parents. Duane lived a simple life and always strived to be independent and frugal. He was proud of his pioneer heritage. He sought self-help health remedies and had a garden for many years. In the last years of his life, because of arthritis, he had to be cared for by others. He spent a year in the Rose Haven assisted care facility in Nampa, Idaho and then a few years at the Trinity Midland Nursing facility in Nampa, Idaho. His caregivers loved him and appreciated his humor and personality. We express appreciation for all who cared for him and helped him in many ways during his final years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the LDS chapel located at 2212 E. Amity Rd. in Nampa, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in Ogden, Utah. Services are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.
