David Miles Obituary

INKOM, Idaho - Our dear husband, father and grandfather, David George Miles, 63, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011, after a short battle with cancer.
David was born on Augsut 9, 1948, in San Fransisco, California, a son of Sewell and Glory Krag Miles. He was raised by his grandparents David Hyrum and Ida May Miles in Chesterfield. He graduated from North Gem High School, class of 1966. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. His mission for the church was in South Texas from October 1967 through March of 1970. He married Marilyenn Easter of McCammon on June 4, 1971, in the Salt Lake City, Temple. They made their home together in Inkom for the past 38 years. David worked as a Journeyman Electrician with several contractors, FMC in Pocatello and later at Agrium in Soda Springs. He had a great love for scouting and served in many scouting positions for over 20 years. He was part of the Wood badge and Cedar Badge leadership training staff. He received the District Merit award and the Silver Beaver award. He served in the Portneuf Ward bishopric under Bishop Tim Shaffer for five years and as Bishop in the Inkom Ward for seven years. He was the Inkom Ward mission leader until shortly before his death.
Dave loved everyone he met and could make a lifetime friend in minutes. He was a people builder and found the very best in everyone he associated with. He shared his testimony of the Gospel and words of wisdom in story and by example. He is survived by his wife Marilyenn of Inkom, and his 6 children, Mitchell (Marti) Miles of  Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Leslie (Darren) Daniels of Chubbuck, Idaho, Karen (Rory) Sandstrom of West Jordan, Utah, Jane (Scott) Harmon of West Valley City, Utah, Daniel (Crystal) Miles of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Lauren (Dustin) Stuart of Erie, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, sister Charlotte (Chuck) Wells, brothers Ray (Joyce) Miles, Paul (Karen) Swatsenbarg, Ted (Chris) Swatsenbarg and Aunt May Miles. He was pre-deceased by his parents, grandparents, parents in-law and aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Inkom LDS Ward (old) Chapel. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday evening at the church from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m.

Marilyenn and family,
Jerry and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. David was a wonderful person and loved by many. We were associated with your family thru' Mitch (Marti), as he and Mark were best friends in High School. We enjoyed visiting with your family at all the sporting activities. David will be missed greatly, but has been called to a higher position. God bless you and your lovely family. Jerry and Donna Moeller (McCammon, ID)

Marilyenn, I just heard from my mother Bonnie and she told me of your loss. I was always thankful for the friendship of Dave. His love for scouting is what brought us together. Although I have not been in the valley for over 20 yrs, his memory of his kindness and leadership will live well beyond his passing. It has been a pleasure to have called him my friend.
