Gerald Coffman Obituary

Gerald F. Coffman
POCATELLO - Gerald F. Coffman, 63, passed away on the evening of September 11th, 2009, at his home from natural causes. Jerry was born September 3rd, 1946, in Gooding, Idaho,to Virgil F. (Red) Coffman and Gloria Osburn-Coffman. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1964. He married Judith L. Walradt in 1965. From that marriage he was blessed with his three children - Trisha, Jerry, and Jenifer whom he dearly loved and took great pride in. Jerry then married KayLynn Custer and they later divorced.
Jerry started working for the Union Pacific Railroad in September of 1967. He had worked many positions over the years but ended his career as a road machinist when he retired in September of 2006. During his time there he enjoyed his work very much and made many great friendships.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter for the majority of his life. His fondest memories began back as a child hunting with his dad and brothers. He eventually carried that tradition on with his son Jerry and just recently with his grandson. He also enjoyed shooting trap with his friends and family.
In Jerry's younger years he followed the local rodeo circuit as a bull rider. We've decided this is where his love for country living began. He enjoyed his sleepouts in his backyard under the stars with his girlfriend Barbara and his grandkids. Jerry also enjoyed golfing. He was very dedicated in attending all sporting events that his grandkids participated in.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Gloria (Pocatello); his three children, Trisha (Steve) Campolattaro (Lava Hot Springs), Jerry Coffman Jr. (St. Louis, Mo.), Jenifer (Matt) Wiscombe (Pocatello); his longtime girlfriend, Barbara Thompson (Pocatello); Kathy (Ron) Cuoio (Pocatello), Daniel (Laura) Coffman (Albuquerque, N.M.), and Kristy Coffman (Pocatello). He also thought of Barbara's boys as his own, Jake Burrows and Travis (Jacque) Burrows. He has 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil (Red) F. Coffman; his brother, Jeff Coffman; and a son, David Coffman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16th, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Faith Lutheran Church,  856 West Eldredge Rd., Pocatello, with Pastor Phil Meyer conducting. Interment will follow services in the Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers, may God bless all in the Coffman Family. I can see Jerry and Dave catching up on old times while hunting. It's ironic, they left us 10 years and one day apart - they must have had a hunt scheduled. Take care.
