MALAD - Phillip Lee Boley, 63, of Malad, Idaho, passed away on Jan. 19, 2012, at home with his wife by his side. He was born in Murray, Utah, on Jan 12, 1949, to Floyd Boley and Jane Airhart Boley. He grew up in Murray attending Christ Lutheran School and Murray High School. Also graduating from Salt Lake Community College and Weber State.
Phillip told many stories about growing up around the Jordan river, camping, rafting, and swimming, with his brother David and friends.
After high school, Phillip entered the U.S. Army serving 6 years. He was in Viet Nam twice. First in medical supply and then as a medic, finishing his service at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Phillip lived most of his life in the Salt Lake City area, but also lived for a while in Texas and California. The last 7 years he lived in Malad, Idaho.
Phillip married Donna Jean Vanderwood Erskine in Malad on August 13, 2004. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling together. Some of his favorite trips were camping in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho, a trip to Florida, and a cruise to the Bahamas. He loved writing poetry and performing in community plays.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Malad, Idaho, his son James Boley of Bountiful, Utah, Step-children, Shauna (Alan) Coleman of Malad, Tracy Erskine of West Valley City, Utah, and Ryan (Alisha) Erskine of Soda Springs, Idaho; his brothers Kenny of Murray,Utah, and David of Tennessee; and a sister JoAnne (Roger) Nelsen of Salt Lake, 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Our Master Fisherman has gone on a permanent fishing trip.
Thank you Phillip for coming into my life and making it so much brighter. You will always be in my heart! I love you, Jean.
