POCATELLO - Robert A. Tauscher, 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at a local care facility after a three-year illness.
He was born on March 21, 1928, in Ellis, Kansas, to Frank Tauscher and Regina Honas Tauscher. Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. Then he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for most of his life until he retired in 1990, at the age of 62.
Robert married Trilby Anderson on August 10, 1949, at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church. They divorced. He later married Donna Heninger, they had one daughter, Roberta, who passed away March 21, 2008. They later divorced. He then married Mary Orner Svancara, April 24, 1986.
Robert's hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, baseball, pinochle, carpentry, and automotive repair.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Pocatello); brother, Louis (Anna) Tauscher (Blackfoot); brother, Frank Tauscher (Pocatello); brother, Ted Tauscher (Blackfoot); sister, Mary Friedl (Lava Hot Springs); sister, Sarah (Ed) Norby (Pocatello); sister, Gloria (Jim) Barrus (Pocatello); stepchildren, Robert (Bob) Penny Svancara, David (Gamma) Svancara, Steven Svancara, Susan (Dexter) Denny, Gary Svancara, Nancy (Dave) Miranda, (all of Pocatello); 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Roberta Tauscher, brother, Eddie, brother, Martin, brother, Adolph, sister, Margaret, brother, Joseph, brother, Gilbert, infant sister, Rose, sister, Leona, baby sister, Francis, and grandson, Aaron Svancara.
