William Huckstep Obituary

William Delbert Huckstep 1930 ~ 2011 Bill Huckstep was born Nov 20, 1930, to Laura and Henry Huckstep in Fallon, NV; Bill had two brothers, Dave Huckstep and Kenneth Huckstep (Pete), and seven half brothers and sisters. He lived in the Grangeville area, Kuna, Boise and Garden City. On Sunday, May 8, Bill Huckstep died in the hospital after a fall. When reflecting on Bill's life, those who knew him well remember his happiness, sense of humor and a genuine care and concern for others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Lois Maxine Huckstep; eight children, Betty Larson( Rodney), Dan Huckstep(Janet), Larry Huckstep(Debbie), Patricia Noakes(Stacy), Scott Huckstep(Loretta), Dorothy Falke(Matt), Bob Huckstep(Gwen), and Connie Baily- Holzer(Rich); 46 grandchildren; and 66 great grandchildren, a total of 112. Bill was honest and hard working. At age 16, he bought his dad's house moving business which he continued to run for 65 years. He also purchased Warm Springs Resort, in Idaho City and built the existing pool; however, after several years of operation, the famous resort was sold to focus on the House Moving Business. His slogan was, "We move anything, large, unusual and odd shaped objects". At its peak, they moved over 500 houses/buildings per year. At one point, Bill was contracted to move several large oxygen tanks at the missile silos in the Bruno, ID area. As he set up to lift the tanks, several engineers said it was impossible to lift. This didn't faze Bill, he simply replied, "Sure it can." And true to his "go-to" character, the job was done. Bill loved people and was always helping someone in need. He served at his church in many different capacities, with the youth and the adults. He especially cared for the widows, taking groups of them to various events like the ice sculptures in McCall, Idaho. Bill was actively engaged in the community; he worked with the Boy Scouts and served on the Garden City council. He loved to build/create and always had projects. Years ago, he started building toys for humanitarian efforts; toys were sent all over the world. He continued to build toys and would allow individuals to pick one on their birthday; the grand children loved that. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2011, at Relyea Funeral Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the LDS Chapel located on 8620 Goddard Rd, Boise, ID. There will be a viewing from 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Cloverdale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel. Any tributes and condolences can be left at www.relyeafuneralchapel.com.

I treasure my interactions with Bill. He gave me the confidence to rebuild my Northend house into a very livable space. He was a wonderful man. I will always remember breakfast with his family before we started the project.

Dear Maxine and families, You are in our thoughts and memories and our prayers are with you. What good memories we have. Daddy George Bye) always regarded Bill as a true and honest man and respected him very much. My memories as a child, spent at the hot springs are very precious. Bill always had a comeback, to my..How are you doing?, when he would come in to Idaho Tractor for parts and rentals. I shall miss his wit and humor and his big smile. Love and hugs to you all. I especially remember Daddy's 90th surprise birthday and how excited he was to see you and Bill there. Oh, the stories they would tell. Housemoving will never be the same with the two of them gone...Janie and Curt Thiel

Dear Maxcine and Family.

Joel and I express our deepest sympathy to all of you with the unexpected passing of Bill.

Bill was a man of great integrity and love for his fellow man. Truly, he
lived by the motto "May my life touch for good all those whose path I cross today."

Those of us whose paths were crossed by Bill were truly blessed as he showed each of us love, kindness, support, and understanding. Joel and I will always be grateful that Bill touched our lives and he is "dear to our hearts."

Maxcine and family, May God wrap his comforting arms about each of you as you work through your grief and adjust to the void in your lives with the passing of Bill.

Our love,
Joel and Sherryl Whittaker

Memories of Bill and Maxine Huckstep and their wonderful family go way back into the 1960s for our family. They were the ideal family that we wanted to emulate. Bill always had a friendly smile and handshake for each of us, down to the baby. His kindness and thoughtfulness warmed our hearts and the welcome we felt almost as part of the family when we visited them. In these later years it seems as if we were always talking about going to visit once again but didn't make it. We know his kindnesses and love of people and serving in the church was who he was. A kinder, gentler, more giving and loving man we never knew. He will be missed by all of us and Heaven will be a better place with him serving there. We love you Maxine and family. Our prayers are going up for you.

What good memories I have of coming over as a kid and jumping on the trampoline.
Many scratches and scrapes for Maxine or Bill to mend too. Mr. Huckstep was as fine and decent a person as anyone could ever meet or know. What a wonderful example he has left his family to follow. Even though his footsteps will be remembered, there will never be anyone who could ever fill his shoes. He had a talent for letting a person know how important they were and making one feel as if they had his undivided respect and attention. You certainly left him after visit with a feeling of who he was inside and how much he loved to share his values with you. He loved his family so much, and he had his own little part of heaven at the cabin. He was a man who did live his faith, and he & maxine helped me soooo many times without asking for a dime.
We remember him fondly, and we send our prayers in thanksgiving for his life and prayers of consolation to his family in this time of great sorrow. Mr. Huckstep will not be forgotten in our prayers, nor his family. We send our love.....
THANK YOU BILL for the memories!

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best..Please accept our deepest condolences Maxine and Family

When Lorrayne's grandfather died, a speaker at his funeral said, "If a flower were placed on his grave for every good deed he has done, he would sleep under a mountain of roses tonight". Truly that could be said of Bill. His good deeds and generosity were beyond counting. We love him.
