Vivian (Leasure) Mentzer Ramey 1921-2015
94, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015. Vivian was born on Aug. 26, 1921 in Clymer, Pa. to the late Charles and Emogene (Bence) Leasure. She has been a resident of Canton since childhood. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dwight Mentzer in 1976 and Harry Ramey in 2000; brothers, Carl Valgene Leasure and Bernaun Leasure.
Mom is much loved and mourned by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Michael Valentine of Canton; brother, Ken (Beverly) Keiser of Louisville; dearly missed by "the apples of her eye" grandchildren, Mike (Laura) Valentine of Maumee, Ohio, Debbie (Kelly) Schachenman of Cedarburg, WI and Jon (Cathleen) Valentine of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren Jessica, Mikey and Christopher Valentine, Chase, Hannah and Kyra Schachenman and Austin and Evan Valentine. Dearly missing her is a very special "niece" Donna Kay (Sam) Russell of North Canton, her very dear lifetime friend Evelyn Cutshall and several dear nieces and nephews.
"Viv" was an avid bridge player and loved to engage her family in many games of "hand and foot". In her earlier years, she belonged to Fine Arts and Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Symphony League, North Canton Lady Elks, IMPS and Auxiliary North Canton Eagles. She was also a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church. She was very giving and always willing to lend a hand - definitely a leader. She was a friend to many and had many dear friends. Borrowing a phrase seems to fit so well "Death is one of the crowning moments of a life well lived. She now has found the long-awaited promise of God's Love. Pause for a moment and remember her as angels take her to her rest."
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 7, 2015 at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON CHAPEL. Family and friends may visit from 11-1 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery.
