Ray Boger Obituary

ROCKWELL - Mr. Ray Atlas Boger, 92, of Tyler Road, Rockwell, died Friday, at Transitional Health Services. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, at Boger United Church of Christ, officiated by Dr. Donald McManus. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The Boger family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Boger was born July 18, 1918, in Cabarrus County, son of the late George A. Boger and Vernina Cline Boger. He was a member of Boger United Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder and deacon. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for 10 years at Kerr Bleachery. He enjoyed church activities, gardening and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Swinson Boger. He was a loving father and is survived by sons, Howard Boger, of Mt. Pleasant, and David Boger and wife, Caro-lyn, of Concord; daughters, Barbara Gray and husband, Don, of Rockwell, and Sheree Manus and husband, Gary Manus, of Rockwell; sisters, Mary Margaret Kluttz, of Rockwell, and Bertha Kluttz and husband, Arthur, of Mt. Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lynda M. Boger, of Mt. Pleasant; and sister-in-law, Juanita Widenhouse, of Charlotte Memorials may be directed to Boger United Church of Christ, 7313 Gold Hill Road, Concord, NC 28025.
