Carter Nebesio Obituary

Carter Catherine Nebesio

7, of Zionsville, IN, passed away Sept. 26, 2013 after a 17-month battle with leukemia. She was born November 7, 2005 to Todd and Chris (Goff) Nebesio in Indianapolis. Carter was a student at Pleasant View Elementary.

Carter will be forever remembered by her family and all who loved her as a vivacious, strong, brave fighter who never let her diagnosis define her. Carter had a love of life unparalleled for her young age and spent endless hours with her dolls, kicking it on the soccer field, laughing with friends, and playing with her brother, William. Her contagious smile lit every room and her abundant happiness spread to all who cared for her.

Carter is survived by her parents, brother, grandparents Daniel and Margy Nebesio and Lynda M. Goff, aunt Carey Goff, and uncle and godfather Patrick Goff. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Dwayne Goff.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan - Zionsville, 105 W. Pine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak, Zionsville, where Carter was a member. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Riley Children's Foundation, 30 South Meridian Street, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204 or made online at http://www.RileyKids.org. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May God watch over all of you during this sad time and hopefully all of you will find some peace. Know Carter is now watching over all of you. I never had the pleasure of meeting that sweet baby girl, however in these past few years seeing pictures, I felt I knew her. I sure will miss the beautiful smile. Rest in Peace Carter.

I am the grandmother of Katie Crowley, Carter's friend and fellow soccer player.
I so remember Carter's tough spirit and resilience on the soccer field. She was a "warrior" and know that so many of us are thinking of her family at this time.

I did not know you or your beautiful child, but I read of the sad passing of one so young after such a courageous battle and just had to put a note here of how sorry I am for your grief and loss. What an angel face in the photo. I lost a brother to the same disease when I was only 10 back in 1963 and it was terrible. Then my father was killed in Viet Nam in 1969 when I was only 15. They say the hurt gets better and I suppose it does in some way but their memory will always be there to live in your heart. After time goes on for as many years as it has for me the thing that I have found that has faded is the memories of the sickness with my brother. Memories that I was glad to have time help me part with them. Seeing a little one so helpless adds to this time of grief I know. Just know that after all these years those sickness memories have faded and it is his smile, his laugh, the way he loved to play with his trucks in the sandbox all those things that I now remember. God Bless you in this deep time of mourning and keep you and let your heart heal from the deep grief you are going through.
