Allan Tolmich Obituary

Allan Tolmich

93, of Fishers, passed away March 20, 2012. He was born March 30, 1918, in Detroit, MI, to the late Morris and Dora Tolmich.

Allan graduated with two academic degrees from Wayne State University and was an All American track star. He set 10 World and U.S. Indoor track records and was twice elected to tour and compete in Europe and Japan. Allan was a charter inductee into the Wayne State University, Athletic Hall of Fame, in 1976, the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 1999, and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, in Netanya, Israel, in 2001.

Allan served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII. After discharge, Allan worked in the apparel industry and enjoyed a successful career as Vice-President of Sales for The Glazier Corp., retiring in 1987.

Allan and Maggi resided in Chicago for 30 years before relocating to the Indianapolis area in 1997.

Surviving is the love of his life, Maggi Whisenant; daughters, Nancy Slutsky, (David), and Patricia Treeful; son, Mark E. McCann, (Jennifer Smith); grandsons, Isaac Slutsky, (Dayna), Morris Slutsky and Jacob Slutsky. Preceding him in death were his three sisters, Beatrice Tolmich, Marion Avrushin, Lillian Nave, and his brother, Thomas Tolmich.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN.
