US AF Colonel John S. Dodge June 22 1915 - April 2, 2009 Resident San Lorenzo 69 yrs US AF Colonel John S. Dodge, 93 yrs., passed away peacefully the morning of April 2. Much loved husband of Rosemary Bernice for 70 yrs. John was the caring father of two children, Ruth Ann and John Sumner Jr., wonderful Grandfather to Mark, Suzan, Mary and Great-Grandfather to Shane. While in the US Air force John piloted dozens of aircraft whose accumulated airtime exceeded five years. He flew the first 707 as a test pilot for Hughes Air West Airlines and was the first to fly into the San Jose Airport. John was also an accomplished horseman, riding in The Pony Express reenactment and as a volunteer with the Madera Co. Sheriff posse.
