Barbara Martinez Obituary

Barbara Anne Martinez (Bobbie) May 11, 1938 - Apr. 17, 2011 Former Resident of Fremont Barbara Anne Martinez (Bobbie) was granted her angel wings on Sunday, April 17, 2011. It is rare to meet a true angel on earth, but those who knew Bobbie have the privilege of knowing they have. A mother, soul mate, sister and friend, she carried with her a heart filled with love and a passion for her family. Her arms were always open to everyone. Her hands were almost magical in their healing power, ask her grandchildren and they will tell you how comforting those hands were. Bobbie was born to James and Anne DeLand on May 11, 1938, in Magna, Utah. Little did anyone know, that on that day, the world would be changed forever. Under the light of a blue moon she met her husband and soul mate Marvin (Bill) Martinez. The love story of Bill and Bobbie hold 56 years of wonderful memories. They traveled the country from coast to coast, sometimes by motorcycle, sometimes in their RV, always including a stop to visit extended family. It was in Fremont, CA that they raised their family of five children; Tina, Richard (Lynna), Selina (Jeff), Michaela and Robert (Kerri). Upon retirement, they made their home in Ione, CA where Bobbie spent her last years. Anyone who knew her would agree that she always carried herself with a perfect amount of grace. Although she will be terribly missed, there is something so powerful about her spirit that those who were close to her can still feel it. Bobbie is survived by her husband Bill, five children, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Through them her light continues to shine. A Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Olive Hyde Mission Room at 123 Washington Blvd. Fremont, CA 94539 on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 12pm.

I love you and I miss you. Thank you for always treating me like family, even before I was. I'm proud of the relationship we had, there are not many people that can go 32 years without ever having an argument. We always treated each other with love and respect. You were not a mother-in-law to me, you were my second mom. Thank you for sharing your son with me, thanks to you and Bill he is a wonderful man.

Those were beautiful words for Bobbie. We always enjoyed her smiling face and sweet conversations at your family get-togethers. All of you were blessed to have her for your mom, wife, grandmother and great grandmom. I knew her as White Grandma since I am Blue Grandma. Our love and prayers for all of you.

What a beautiful tribute to your Mom! Bobbie was a great person! She was kind and loving to everyone. She always made room for one more at her already crowded table. I hope that you are comforted by knowing she is now earning her reward for all her goodness on earth. With love, Rene Ramsay
