Andrea Jackson Obituary

Andrea Dawn Jackson Resident of Union City Andrea Dawn Jackson was born on Easter Sunday, March 26, 1967 in Los Angeles, California, as the third child of Lloyd and Archie Ransom. Her siblings are Sheryl Crockett and Kenneth Ransom. At the age of two Andrea's Family moved to Denver, Colorado where she attended elementary and secondary schools. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School where she was captain of the basketball team, track team, as well as pianist for the Jazz Band. Andrea was voted Prom Queen in her senior year. Andrea attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, where she earned a spot on the roster of the women's basketball team as a walk-on. She graduated in 1989 with a Degree in Economics. Andrea later continued her education by obtaining her Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of California, Berkeley. Her professional career began with Wells Fargo Bank as a Financial Analyst. She later went on to work for Hewlett Packard as Project Manager and Devry University as Business Professor & Dean of the School of Business. She returned back to Wells Fargo as a Financial Analyst. In 1993, Andrea married her husband Philip G. Jackson, and to this union was born three children: Randi, Kendall, and Jalyn. Andrea found great joy teaching, coaching, and mentoring children and young teens. She and her husband ran the local National Junior Basketball league for six years in Hayward and Union City. She was also a proud member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women in Oakland, CA. Through this organization she co-chaired the Positive Steps Program for the development of teenage girls in preparing them for college. Her memories will be cherished by her husband Philip G. Jackson, two daughters Randi and Jalyn, one son Kendall; parents Lloyd and Archie Ransom; one sister Sheryl Crockett, one brother Kenneth Ransom; one brother in-law Melvin Jackson; two sister in-laws Kate Ransom, Brenda Jackson; nieces Brittany, Bianca, and Monet; nephews Jasson, Daniel, Brandon and Orlando; and a host of extended family members, friends and co-workers. Homegoing Celebration for Andrea will be held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at South Bay Community Church, 47385 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, CA 94539 at 1:00pm.
