SHANNON BROWN Obituary

Shannon Lester Brown passed away at Loma Linda Hospital on July 26, 2016 after a long illness lovingly surrounded by his wife, mother, step-father and children. He was 45 years old. Shannon was born in Bishop, CA on February 26, 1971 to Cactus and Bonnie Brown and lived his entire life in Bishop. At age 6, his family moved to Chalfant Valley where he hunted for lizards, horned toads and yes, snakes.

He had many passions which included bowling, cooking, food, fishing, his children, grandchildren and reptiles. He traveled all over the Western United States with his closest friends hunting for snakes. He was a breeder of snakes and furnished many pet stores and private parties with milk snakes, corn snakes, king snakes, boas and more. For several years near the end of the school year he was invited to bring some of his collection around to the schools to educate children and let them see and feel the skin; he never said no.

He was a fabulous cook and working for Fosters donuts, Whiskey Creek, The Bowling Alley, Village Café, Chalfant Valley Mercantile and he co-owned Bubbas Grill with his parents and sister for 5 years. His most passionate love was food. He always wanted to be the guy that traveled the world trying different cuisine. Shannon also loved football and was a diehard Raiders fan and he spoke fluent Spanish.

He attended classes to become a certified bowling ball driller and was very good at it. He had the knack to drill your bowling ball the exact way you liked it. He accomplished bowling two 300 games at the Back Alley bowling alley over the last few years.

Shannon leaves behind his wife, Chantel; mother and step-father Bonnie & Dave Schulz, father, Cactus Brown of Modesto, CA; brother, Bobby Brown; sister, Crystal Brown, step-brothers, David and Jeremy Schulz; daughters, Cynthia, Bonnie, Emmasue, Mariposa and Zonata Brown; step-children Mark Hall and Tavian Beasley; grandchildren, Martin and Damien Rico; a baby girl expected in September 2016; Mark III, Brandon and Todd Hall; aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends. He will be so terribly missed.
A celebration of Shanonn's life and finger food pot luck will take place at the Back Alley, 649 N. Main St., Bishop on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016 at 1:00PM. The family requests if you have a Raiders hat or shirt, please wear it in Shannon's honor.

I knew Shannon and took him to oneof my favotite secretspots in the San Jacinto mountains, to hopehe would find one of our local Zonata, his favorite species, along with another friend who is also gone far too soon, Russel Koepp.
He was enthusiastic, focussed, and a bit competitive when it came to rock flipping and a successful hunt. His stories of road hunting west Texas are seared in my mind. Happy hunting my friend.

Dear Bonnie and family.
It doesn't seem like it's been 8 years since Shannon was taken fromus. I will always remember how much he loved bowling and was so great at it. He was a kind person and loved his family. I know the years fly by but for a mom you will never stop missing the children you have lost. I pray the comfort and peace of the Lord cover you daily but especially during this time of remembering Shannon and his life here with you and all those who knew him. The Lord bless you and keep you in His arms of love and care always. With Love Ellen Chinzi.

*SO passionate about. (I apologize for my extra entry -- I didn't spot my error until too late and saw that my meaning was lost).

I first met Shannon more than 35 years ago, soon after moving to Bishop. He eventually became my friend, as we shared so many common interests. Shannon, I will remember your smile and patience, your joy of watching others gain enthusiasm for things you were to passionate about, to my dying day. You were my mentor, in so many ways.
