Marilyn Wagamon Obituary

Marilyn Alice Barone Wagamon died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at her Lansing home.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Willoughby Wagamon; and her son, Robert Barone Wagamon, and his family, Lauren Harman, and children Lauryn and Jack, and her other son, Dylan Thomas Barone Wagamon, and his family, Carey Wagamon and daughters, Reese, Hudsyn and Ellie. Also surviving are her mother, Alice Barone; her brother, Michael Barone; her sister, Patricia Barone; niece, Alice Overland; and her nephew, Patrick Overland.
Marilyn was born on Feb. 17, 1947 to her loving parents, C. Gerald Barone and Alice Barone in Highland Park, Ill. and raised in Detroit and Birmingham. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts and Masters in Counseling at the University of Michigan. She taught art to Middle School students beginning in 1968 in Flint and later taught middle school students and counseled elementary and high school students in the Waverly School District for many years until her retirement in 2003.

A gathering to honor her life will be held on Sunday, April 7 at the Lexington Lansing Hotel starting at noon. Donations in her name may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America, www.hdsa.org.

To the Wagamon Family. Mrs. Wagamon was one of the reasons my Son graduated in 2002 from Waverly High. She was concerned enough to let him know about an alternative program that he could attend. God bless you in your hour of sorrow.

Tom,

I know words cannot console the grief you and your family are feeling. It is tragic that she was taken from this world so suddenly, but I know she will always remain in your heart and memory. I have so many fond memories of all the Michigan games we saw together and Marilyn will always remain in my heart too.

Knowing my son was in Iraq during the invasion, she called me at Winans everyday to check on me. Gave me words of encouragement! He had been one of her students! She was like the favorite aunt you always loved to see! The world will be a sadder place and heaven has another grade A angel! My prayers to your family!
