Dorothy A. Doyle

Dorothy A. Doyle, 88 of Hilton Head Island died Saturday, September 7, 2013 after a short illness. She was born June 6, 1925 in Atlantic, MA, the daughter of John J. and Mary L. Doyle. She moved to Hilton Head Island in 1981 from Stamford, CT where she lived most of her life. She graduated from the Low Heywood School and attended Yale University School of Music. She was part owner and manager of an Insurance Agency for many years in Stamford and later on Hilton Head was associated with Carswell of Carolina. In Stamford, she was a past president of the Junior Women's Club, past president of the Insurance Women of Southern CT., active in the National Assoc. of Insurance Women, member of the Stamford Insurance Board and founder of Insurance Women's Day of Connecticut. On Hilton Head Island she was a member of the Hilton Head Plantation Women's Club, The Artists Assoc. of Hilton Head Plantation, President of the Avid Gardner's and a past President of the Hilton Head Hospital Auxiliary. She was predeceased by two sisters, Doris V. Doyle of Hilton Head Island, Eleanor D. Polk, and her three brothers John T. Doyle, Robert J. Doyle and Richard E. Doyle of Hilton Head and one nephew, Peter Polk. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Judy Byrne, Jackie Bondy, Marilea Fried, Patricia Farino, Robert Doyle, Jr. Connie Doyle, Carolyn Roberts,Joseph Doyle and Thomas Doyle and locally by Karen Buterbaugh and Marianne Doyle. She is also survived by her great nieces, Elizabeth Buterbaugh and Courtney Doyle of Hilton and Head and several other great, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Private. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
