William E. Golde Jr.

William EdwardGolde Jr. William E. Golde Jr., 84 of Callawassie Island, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2011 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Bill was born in Bronx, NY to Veronica and William Golde Sr. He graduated from Bayside High School, earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and was a Navy veteran. Bill was retired from his position as a consulting engineer in the field of electrical power generation. After moving to the Low Country from Huntington, NY, Bill became an avid golfer at the Callawassie Island Club. Music was a life long avocation, and Bill sang locally with the Beaufort Chorale, the Callawassie Chorus and the St. Gregory Church choir. A beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle, Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice of Callawassie Island; brother, John and sister in law, Jean Golde of East Northport, NY; children, Peter and Elizabeth Golde of Austin, TX, Patricia and Bruce Sentoff of Liverpool, NY, William and Maria Golde of Cutchogue, NY, Elizabeth Golde of South Salem, NY and Timothy and Jayne Golde of Concord, NH. He was also "Grandpa" to ten grandchildren and one great grandson, and "Uncle Bill" to many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 333 Fording Island Road, Bluffton at 10:00 am, Friday, September 23, 2011 with burial at Noon at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
