A really good riding buddy who was knowledgeable about so many things. The miles would fly by when I rode with Bruce. We had some great rides and meals together. I think of him often and I do miss him.

We were able to have a very nice visit with Bruce last summer on our way from AZ to Idaho. He and our niece, Jeanne, Brian and Lori came to my brother, Don's house in Whittier. He will be truly missed by all.

Although I only met Bruce in 2003 we spent many hours riding together on some of our long distance rides. Bruce was a man of character and a man I aspired to be. I truly enjoyed our times on the bike as there is a camaraderie that develops through shared pain on a long grueling day climbing over mountains. I don't ever recall Bruce being down. He was always cheerful and was very quick to crack a big ol smile. It was contagious. I'll miss him dearly. My condolences to his family. I hope you some how find the strength to get through this very difficult time.

I've been struggling with how to define my relationship and experiences with Bruce Taylor. I first met him at a campground before a brevet several years ago in Arizona, and then only saw him once or twice during the ride since he was a bit faster. When you could hold onto his wheel, he was always pleased to see you and made for a pleasant companion. A couple of times we enjoyed meals together at places he found away from the brevet controls.

He talked about his wife and daughter being with him for PBP '07, and how much he appreciated their support and how they enjoyed seeing France together. He was looking forward to possibly doing it again 2011, depending on work and finances. He was very independent of mind and self sufficient, as all randonneurs should be, but didn't hesitate for a moment to stop and ask if you needed help -- even stopping and offering to hold my rear wheel while I cut a bungee cord out of my rear cluster in Riverside two years ago.

Seeing his name and finish time on the results sheets always encouraged me to be a bit faster in hope that I could spend more time with him. I'll miss him. Unfortunately, a prior commitment will probably prevent me from being there for him and his family on Friday. Hopefully many of his other riding companions will be able to make it to Bruce's memorial service.

I will always remember Bruce's energy, enthusiasm, and kindness--he was a good man to ride with, and a good friend to be with. He will be greatly missed.

I have run into Bruce on several rides. He always had that great smile and would slow down to my pace to chat for a while. Last year on San Diego Randonneurs 600 k ride Bruce DNF'd but stayed on to sag the other riders. Most riders would have just gone home. I was descending and it was just about dark when Bruce came behind me in the van with his father sitting shotgun. He startled me at first because I wondered why he was behind me in the car. He asked me if I needed help and I said no. Well I had become tangled up in the reflective sash I was wearing and was trying to just finish the downhill portion I was on. It was cold and I really needed to stop and get some layers on. Well Bruce obviously had figured all of this out. He stayed back and waited and then came around again and asked me if I needed help. This time I said I wasn't sure. Well I stopped he got out of the car and helped me out. He was patient and kind. Next I saw him with his father at Carl's Jr. He was there for moral support and anything else that the rest of us needed. He was an accomplished cyclist and a wonderful person. I will miss him.
