Lorna Gable Obituary

Lorna Marie Gable
Lorna Marie Gable peacefully passed away in her sleep February 15, 2013. She is survived by her husband, William Gable; her brother and sister, Roland Kincher (Gloria) and Donna Stocker (James); her stepsister Sue Fishering (Ron), and half brother John Kincher (Jonnie). Her daughter, Janet Gravo, and 3 stepchildren, Jack Gable, Sandra Gable, and Gary Gable. Lorna grew up in Redlands, California and graduated from Redlands High School in 1946 . She was nearly a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire except for the years spent in Santa Monica towards the end of WWII where she worked for Douglas Aircraft Company helping to assemble C-47 aircraft used in the war effort. She also worked for many years at the Telephone Company in Redlands. Lorna will be remembered for her great sense of humor and enduring love of animals. She possessed a deep love of art, was a lifelong student of art history. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, painting, needlepoint, and baking. She also enthusiastically enjoyed art museums and theater. Lorna also was a huge lover of cinema and was a walking compendium of film knowledge. Lorna will be remembered most for her feisty and independent nature, as well as the many sayings and homilies constantly being applied: "That's no hill for a climber" will long resonate in our ears. She also was a Christian, and although not a regular member of any church, believed deeply in the Bible and the truths it offered her. She will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
