Virginia J. Wilson

Virginia June Wilson (nee Brockway), 88, a Jackson resident until 2012, passed away February 12, 2016, at the home she shared with her daughter. She was comforted in her final days by family, caregivers, hospice staff and her cat, Vickie, who rarely left her side. Virginia was born April 23, 1927 at home in Munith, Michigan to Thelma (Goit) and Clifton M. Brockway. Multiple members of her family were part of her early years; she especially treasured the two years she was able to spend living with her dad and sister in Henderson, NC until his untimely death. She was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School. The highlight of Virginia's life was meeting Nebraska soldier Kenneth L. Wilson at the Jackson Roller Rink while he was stationed at Ft. Custer, then Camp Waterloo; they married after he returned from his WWII deployment in 1946; their love and enthusiasm for life endured until his death in 2006. Virginia & Ken treasured their grandsons and their grandsons treasured them. Fond memories include: trips, games, picnics, camping, fishing and laughs when we were together. That affection was then shared with the grandsons' wives and great-grandchildren that began arriving in 2009. Up until her last days, she continued to find joy in their attention by visits, phone or Skype. Virginia will additionally be remembered for her homemaking skills, great laugh and smile, being a good friend, confidant and mentor. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Jackson. She played Bridge in numerous clubs in earlier years and had the trophies to prove it!! Virginia is survived by: daughter, Cynthia J. Hoffman (Valparaiso, IN), grandsons Jason (Joanna) Hoffman of Anchor Point, Alaska and Kurt (Korah) Hoffman of Jackson. Great-grandchildren include: Rishon, Wesson, Adah , Ilana and newborn Evans Prescott Hoffman of Anchor Point, Alaska and Oliver, Harriet and Teddy Hoffman of Jackson. Brother: Dayle (Lynda) Stevens (Largo, FL), Sister: Geraldine Palmer (San Jose, CA), Cousin: Suzanne (Randy) Heatley (Munith). She was also preceded in death by daughter Sharon A. Wilson and infant grandson, Matthew William Hoffman. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. The family will be holding a graveside service in the future to reunite Virginia and Sharon with Kenneth at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
