Barbara Burks Obituary
After a long illness, Barbara Dell Burks went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2013 at her residence in Mercer, TN.
Barbara was born in Memphis, TN on February 27, 1941, the daughter of the late William Sales and Helen Joyner. She was married to the late Thomas Alvin Burks, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took great joy in raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very supportive of their various activities over the years. She was a member of Mercer Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Tom (T.J.) Burks, Jr. and wife Ginger of Knoxville, TN, Terry Burks Spraggs and husband Lannie of Lexington, TN, William J. (B.J.) Burks and wife Sonya of Dyersburg, TN, Timmy Burks and wife Jenny of West Memphis, AR, and John "Flipper" Burks and wife Tonya of Jackson, TN; a brother, Billy Joyner of Marion, AR and two sisters, Mona Dallas of Wynne, AR and Pam Schroeder of Redding, CA.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at the Little Hope Cemetery near Faulkner, MS with a committal service at 3 p.m. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers to serve will be Madison Burks, Alex Burks, Tom Burks, Nathan Burks, Jesse Burks, Brian Alexander, Mark Ferguson and Joe Ferguson.
The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, that memorials be directed to the Mercer Baptist Church.
