Gary Dr. Obituary

Dr. Gary A. Hunt, 62

Dr. Gary A. Hunt, 62, Carmel, passed away June 11, 2015. He was born June 28, 1952, in Lafayette, the son of the late Robert Dean and Karen (Grimm) Hunt.

Gary graduated from West Lafayette High School, where he obtained his famous nickname "Rocket." He was a proud alumnus of Indiana University, where he earned his Bachelor's as a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Upon graduation, he moved to Indianapolis to continue his graduate studies at IU, earning his D.D.S.

Gary was an avid supporter of the Colts and IU athletics, and he also enjoyed playing golf. He valued education; his proudest moment was watching all four of his children graduate from college. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be most remembered for his quick wit, charm, and his contagious personality.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Stacy Hunt; son, Jeremy Hunt; three daughters, twins Jennifer Knight (Billy) and Lindsay Raimondi, and Jayme Hunt; granddaughter, Kristina; sister, Deborah Lawrence (James); sister-in-law, Kay Hunt; and 18 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his older brother, Robert Dean Hunt II and sister, Marsha Lamb.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, Flanner and Buchanan - Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the funeral center. Gary was a special friend in grades 3 through 12. I remember his great generosity, kindness, steadiness, and willingness to work hard even in tough situations. It was a pleasure playing basketball with such a person and I have thought of him innumerable times over the years and the dozens and dozens of kind acts he did. My life was much enriched by his example and his presence. David McCormack

Gary was kind, generous, steady, and humble and that is why I loved being his friend in grades 3 through 12 and playing basketball with him. Hundreds and hundreds of times I thought of his great kindness and generosity to me over the years and how special he was. My younger brother Bill also remembered how special he was.
