Albert Roberts Obituary
94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at University Place in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Albert was born September 3, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Morris and Anna (Feld) Roberts. He was proud to have grown up in Brooklyn on Coney Island Avenue and developed a passion for the Brooklyn Dodgers at a young age.Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army in WWII. After, he would go on to receive his BS from The Cooper Union in Manhattan. Then, his first Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU. Both accomplishments achieved during night school while he worked by day. Albert received his second Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
He married Audrey Flaum Roberts on June 17, 1951 in New York City. They were married for 65 years and she survives him.
Professionally, Albert worked as an engineer and served as the Manager of User Services at the University of Wisconsin at Madison where he served for nearly 20 years.
Personally, Albert was a compassionate, generous and curious man. He had a wide array of interests. He traveled the world, enjoyed music and sailing. Albert was an avid runner his entire life and didn't slow down until his mid-eighties. He touched many lives, and will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know him.
In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by three children, Joshua Roberts and his wife Annie Marks of New York, Matthew Roberts and his wife Elisa Blatteis of Memphis, and Felicia Roberts and her husband Danny Weiss of West Lafayette; a granddaughter, Lillian Blatteis Roberts of Memphis; and a sister, Rhoda Laufer of Long Island.
