I recently learned that West Lafayette High School will celebrate 100 years of football this September during a home game with Rensselaer H.S.
I wish Ted and I as co-captains of the 1964 team could attend together.
As Freshmen, our team was 2-1
As sophomores on the J.V. team we were undefeated at 5-0 and only surrendered one touchdown.
As juniors on the varsity, we were part of a good 8-1 team.
As senior co-captains we led our teammates to a 6-2-1 season, winning all of our home games and upsetting Indianapolis North Central H.S. at their home field.
Good times playing along side of you, my friend.

Ted & I were co-captains of the 1964 Red Devil's football team, goin 6-2-1, with an upset Of Indianapolis North Central H.S. as a season highlight.
After we served out country in the military, we reconnected again at Oyrdue University.
He was a friend and had a lovely wife.
He is remembered and missed.

Nice to get a 'refresh' of this memory page. Thank you Carlton. I see that two of us, Carol Trimmer, and Cheryl Bunnell Church have passed on too. Our childhood memories are distant but rich. When I think of Ted, I think of him in the context of his whole family living across the street. His house was like home. I could just walk in any time. The Kuntz family was a hub of friendly activity and welcoming of all comers. My friendship with Ted in Junior high and high school was special and fun all around. Remembering Ted here again with a lot of appreciation.

Ted and I played football together from 8th grade through our senior year, when we were chosen co-captains by our teammates.
Our Freshman team was 2-1
As sophomores we led the JV team to an undefeated season, giving up only one touchdown
As Juniors we joined the class ahead of us to forge a 8-1 record and state ranking.
Our senior year we were 6-2-1.
After both of us serving in the military, we reconnected at Purdue and one year we lifted weights together, never missing a workout.
It was a time of sharing and encouraging and I enjoyed it so much.
I think about him and miss him.

I love this picture! Not only because it indicates Ted's role on the WLHS football team (along with my dad as coach), but also because I'm reminded of how we watched Ted grow up, next-door neighbors for so many years. Brings back so many memories. He was a real sweetheart. - Carol Straley Trimmer

Ted was my closest neighbor and very good friend and buddy from 5th grade on. Lots of great summers hanging out together. Many fine memories. He was truly a good guy ... kind, unassuming, genuinely supportive of others, great sense of humor and perspective on life. Lucky to have know him in those years. RIP Ted.

Career: Freshman 2-1, B-team: 5-0 gave up one touchdown all season, Varisty 8-1, Varsity 6-2-1

Ted Kuntz was a good friend and co-captain of our 1964 West Lafayette Red Devil football team. He was tough and determined.
As both of us were veterans, after our service we reunited at Purdue where we enjoyed lifting weights together.
I really enjoyed seeing him again and the friendship continued to grow.
He is already missed.
May God bless and keep his lovely wife Mary.

Ted was the kind of person who was a natural leader, a dependable teammate, and always seemed to have a smile for everyone.
I was proud to be his friend.
He will indeed be missed.

Ted was a good friend and football teammate at WLHS. I share with family and friends the sadness of his passing. He played middle guard on our football team, one of very few underclassmen to start. He was an excellent golfer and as tough as they come is all sports activities.
