Raymond Fike Obituary

Raymond (Ray) Leon Fike, 62, passed away in Midland, MI on January 9, 2017.
Ray was born July 13, 1954, at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, CA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Fike. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice (Bea) Fike of Swansboro, NC; a brother, Robert (Lenny) Fike; and a sister, Monica Brown of Midway Park, NC. He is also survived by Carol Fike of Port Orange, FL, the mother of his two daughters Sarah Nannery of Astoria, NY and Rachel Fike of Sunfield, MI.
Ray graduated from Kailua High School, Kailua, HI, in June 1972. He served four years in the US Army upon graduation. Ray attended East Carolina University, Greenville, NC and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC where he received a Masters degree in Fine Arts. He taught at the University of North Texas, Dallas TX and the University of North Dakota, Fargo, ND. He drove tractor trailers for Werner Corp and Crete Corp for many years. He recently retired to Alma, MI.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St Peter's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, 503 Broad St., Swansboro, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Memorial Fund for Ray at St Peter's or to your favorite charity.
