Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Broad Creek United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben Ball officiating.
He retired after 30 years as a Civil Service computer analyst. He was an active member of the N.C. Beach Music Association.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Hilbert of Newport; son, Alan Hilbert Jr. of Newport; daughter, Meg Hollis of Kentucky; stepdaughter, Michelle Siner of Concord; sisters, Sheila Moore and Sharon Brackins; and two grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to Broad Creek United Methodist Church at 562 Broad Creek Loop Road, Newport.
