David Stewart Obituary

MATTOON - David Lee Stewart, 60, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:52 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at his residence. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue in Mattoon. Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, at the funeral home with Reverend Mark Prevo officiating. Burial will follow in Dodge Grove Cemetery. David was born September 6, 1949, in Coles County, the son of Winfred and Virginia (Moore) Stewart. He married Connie Morgan on June 12, 1995. Survivors include his loving wife, Connie of Mattoon; two daughters, Beth Stewart of Long Creek, Rachel Gould and husband Josh of Mt. Zion; son, Andrew Stewart of Shumway; stepsons Dr. Greggory Rentfrow and wife Sheila of Richmond, Kentucky, Travis Rentfrow and wife Georgia of Cerro Gordo and Morgan Mars of Mattoon; grandchildren, Addison of Mt. Zion, Brandon and Brittany of Cerro Gordo, Lilly and Brooke of Richmond, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews including special nephew Chad; brothers Robert Stewart and wife Terry of Mt. Zion and Michael Stewart and wife Vicki of Plano, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Stewart was retired from Caterpillar where he worked for over 30 years. Memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to The Cancer Care Center of Decatur.

Our prayers are with you. I don't remember if we ever met your husband but I'm sure he was a wonderful man. I worked with you at Walmart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He will be sadly missed but have wonderful memories. Take care. God bless.

I am so sorry connie. he is in a better place. sometimes we don't want to think so, for some being here with there loved ones seems like a better place. trust me it has taken a long time to finally let my parents go and deep down i really haven't yet. anything you need just let me know.
