Frederic Hopkins Obituary
He was born on March 19, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Nathaniel Wallace Hopkins and Genevieve Macklem Hopkins. Fritz graduated from high school in Plymouth, Michigan, and received his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University. He honorably served his country as a member of the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Hopkins of Vernon; children, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Carol and her husband, Henry Golembeski, Douglas and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Adam and Kyle Gavin, Hannah and her husband, Jeremiah Kanter, and Amy and Julie Carlo, and Tyler Hopkins; a great-granddaughter, Linnea Jean Kanter; nieces and nephews, Susan Fox, Nancy Hopkins-Maurer, John, and Mark Hopkins; and a sister-in-law, Jeannette Wallace Hopkins. Fritz was predeceased by a brother, James and his identical twin brother, John.
His family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd., Vernon, CT 06066.
At the kind request of his family, burial will be privately held and memorial donations may be made to either Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066 or to the charity of one's choice.
