Lucille Frieder Obituary

Lucille M. (Curry) Frieder, affectionately known as "Sam," age 65, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, passed over Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Sam was born Feb. 1, 1953, in Hartford to the late Harvey and Jeanne (Fauteux) Curry, who carried throughout their lives immense pride in the accomplishment of Sam's doctoral degree in clinical psychology. She also graduated with honors from Swarthmore College with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology after earning a scholarship there. Sam maintained memberships in the American Psychological Association (Neuropsychology), and the National Head Injury Foundation and remained active in her profession until early April of this year, when her most recent health challenges became insurmountable. Her brilliance was on par or even surpassed by her physical beauty.

During her lifetime, Sam passionately devoted herself to her beloved son, Jesse, devoting many weekends of his youth and college years observing his countless tennis tournaments. She also spent many, many happy hours losing herself in works of fiction. We could always count on her presence for family celebrations and holidays, impressing us with her quick wit and sense of humor.

Lucille leaves to mourn her son, Jesse C. Frieder of Boston, Massachusetts; and devoted siblings, Michele (Ray) Graczyk of Windsor Locks, Pamela (Frank) Epps, Susan (Tom) Sarubbi of East Greenwich, Bruce Curry and Michele Welindt of Providence, Rhode Island. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, a great-niece, and great-nephews, in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Utah.

Her family will be celebrating Sam's life with a private gathering in East Greenwich.

Dr.Frieder was the most amazing woman we all had ever met.
She was beautiful with her shy smile, brilliant mind and huge heart.
She helped us all so much. Starting in 1994 then again in 2008 up until 2017.
She LOVED her son Jesse, So Much.
Her face lit up whenever she spoke his name.
We just found out tonight of her passing .
We are all so sorry and so sad.
Love, Marilyn and Joe and Jake and Philomena Hall.

Among her many other talents, Sam was a wonderful friend...loyal, reliable, understanding, generous and funny. Her ability to see the humor in difficult situations was so endearing . I will miss her. Susan Haglund
