Howard French Obituary

Howard K. French Jr., 71, of Manchester, passed away Sept. 7, 2018. He was born April 8, 1947, in Willimantic, the son of Howard K. French Sr. and Edna (Jansen) French.

On June 30, 1992, in Ludlow, Vermont, Howard married his soulmate, Katharyn, and they enjoyed 26 years of marriage together. They enjoyed traveling, especially through Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Cape Cod, so much that it was rare to see Howard without Katharyn.

Howard was a reporter and worked for the Journal Inquirer for 34 years. He was proud of his job and the people he worked with. He was a kind, generous, and extremely thoughtful man, always remembering dates and anything that was important to someone else. Howard had a special place in his heart for all things related to the railroad and was a member of various historic railroad societies. He was also an avid animal lover.

Along with his dog Shamrock, his pride and joy, Howard leaves his stepson, Lucan Hyde and partner, Trey Frazee; stepson, David Hyde and partner, Shawna Morse; sister-in-law, Jackie Blakely and her husband, Larry, of Vermont; brothers-in-law, Ernie Covey and his wife, Shari, of Pittsburg, New Hampshire, and Charlie Covey of Georgia.

At Howard's request, there will be no services.
