Margaret Shaughnessy Obituary
Peg was born April 23, 1931, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Catherine Carr and John Grummell. Peg lived in the Windsor Locks and Suffield area all of her life. She graduated from Windsor Locks High School and received an associate's degree from Asnuntuck College. Peg, along with her late husband, operated the Clay Hill Package Store in Windsor Locks for many years and Peg retired from the Town of Suffield where she was the secretary of the Parks and Recreation Department. In retirement Peg kept busy as an extraordinary minister of holy Eucharist at Sacred Heart Church and volunteered at the Enfield Loaves and Fishes and for the Suffield Historical Society. Among Peg's many hobbies were traveling, line dancing, walking, gardening, and reading.
She leaves her daughter, Mary Ellen Shaughnessy, and her husband, Mark Wigler; her daughter, Nancy Shaughnessy; and her grandchildren, Colin and Devin Wigler. Peg was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Kummer, Bernard Grummell, Kathleen Hoffman, and Thomas Grummell; her niece, Joanne Grummell; and two nephews, Bernard and Thomas Grummell.
Peg's family would like to thank the hospice team from Masonicare especially Kathy Ostrowski and Bridgette Duncan.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Peg will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 446 Mountain Road, Suffield. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Windsor Locks.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Enfield Loaves and Fishes Inc., P.O. Box 544 Enfield, CT 06083-0544; or the Suffield Historical Building Fund, 232 S. Main St., Suffield, CT 06078.

I'd like to pass on my condolences to Peg's daughters and family. It was with sadness I heard of Peg's passing. I have kept in touch with her over the years mainly through letters at Christmas time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Very sorry to hear of Peg's death. She rented a house to my grandmother at 20 North St for years. Last saw her in April during the Titanic remembrance of her great-aunt Jane Carr. She hosted my wife and I and several others after the memorial mass. Lovely woman in every way.
