Elizabeth Paiva Obituary

Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Trotter) Paiva, 79, of Coventry, and formerly of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Paiva, died unexpectedly Monday, July 6, 2015, at Hartford Hospital.

Betty was born June 24, 1939, in Manchester, daughter of the late John A. and Sara Viola (Greenway) Trotter, she attended local schools, graduating from Manchester High School and went on to attend Bates College in Maine. Betty had worked for The Travelers Insurance Co. and Shaw's Supermarkets, and retired as a bank teller with the former Savings Bank of Manchester at the Coventry branch. She was a friend of Bill W. for 40 years and involved with Girl Scouts in her youth, where she developed friendships that lasted throughout her life.

Mrs. Paiva is survived by four children, Debra A. Wolmer, David B. Wolmer and his wife, Karen, all of Hampton, Diane C. Norris and her husband, John, of Glenburn, Maine, and Donalyn D Maneggia and her husband, Peter, of Andover. She was a proud grandmother of six, David McNickle, Kyle Wolmer, Erin Norris, Nathan Norris, Alexander Maneggia, and Mckenzie Maneggia and enjoyed spending time with them and watching them grow up.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, at 1 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in the East Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Girls Scouts of America, 340 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

My sincere sympathy to the family of Betty, a fellow classmate and graduate of MHS in 1954. Betty was a dear girl and a good friend through our school years. It was always a pleasure to see her again at class reunions.
