Pauline Hebert Obituary

Pauline S. Hebert, 83, the wife of Dr. Jean-Louis Hebert, died suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at her home.

Pauline was born in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in a family of six siblings and was raised by her widowed father, Dr. Oliver Coulombe, a small town physician who brought care to everyone he met. Pauline studied nursing at the University of Montreal, Quebec. She met her husband of 62 years and moved to France for three years while Jean-Louis served in the U.S. Air Force. They returned to the states and settled in Manchester in 1952. They raised three children and became active in school, community, and St. James Parish affairs. She mostly enjoyed her lifetime friends and her 62 years of love with her husband. Pauline was proud, energetic, and loving and will be remembered by her family as an eternal inspiration of joy.

Besides her husband, Pauline is survived by her children and their spouses, Paul and Sharon Hebert of Manchester, Peter and Jeanne Hebert of Stowe, Vt. and Suzanne and Matthew McNeill of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; her granddaughters, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Kristin, and Allison; and her siblings, Madeline Vannier, Jacque Coulombe, and Marcelle Coulombe; and several nieces and nephews. Pauline was also predeceased by her siblings, Guy Coulombe, Camille Coulombe, and Ghislaine Coulombe.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 10:15 a.m. from the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery, Manchester.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pauline's family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037.

Suzanne and the Hebert family. Pauline always kept us laughing every time we were in her presence. From a celery stalk swishing around to her make up stunt when we were there for dinner to her story about Boston college tailgate parties. We will miss her. All our love Dorothy and Bill

Dear Pauline (or Grandmama as my girls always thought of you) - I will miss you. I will remember your effervescent presence, love of laughter, and how beautiful you always looked. You were the epitome of a "classy lady". Thank you for being such a wonderful mother-in-law to my sister, I know she will miss you dearly. Love, Jennifer

Please accept my condolences on the death of your wife and mother. Although I didn't know her, I was a patient of both her husband and son. She must have been a wonderful person, and I am sorry for your loss.
