Walter Falkowski Obituary

Walter E. Falkowski of Suffield passed away on June 30, 2011.

Son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Oniski) Falkowski, Walter served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Walter was an active member since 1953 of the Suffield Landry-Sic post 9544 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, holding every office, including commander. Most recently, he was post chaplain and member of the house committee. Walter also was a member of the CT Farm Bureau and the AARP. Walter was a long time communicant of St. Joseph Church, Suffield. Walter will be know for growing sweet asparagus, beautiful tobacco, and will long be remembered for his generosity and kindness.

He leaves behind a son, Vincent Falkowski of Springfield, Mass.; three sisters, Celia Polek of Enfield, Romualda Dzwilewski of Longmeadow, Mass., and Eleanor Ragno of Needham, Mass.; and very dear companion, Marie Jordan. He was predeceased by one brother, Adolf Falkowski; and three sisters, Stella Zieminski, Dorothy Hyjek, and Gladys Gminski.

Walter would like to thank the many relatives and friends who were so supportive over the past months. Their visits and phone calls were daily reminders of how special those relationships were and made his family's pain more bearable.

Donations may be made to the Suffield VFW, 972 Sheldon St., West Suffield, CT 06093.

Friends and family may call to the Heritage Funeral Home, 1240 Mountain Road, West Suffield, Tuesday, July 5, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, July 6, from the Heritage Funeral Home at 9 a.m. to the St. Joseph Church, Main Street, Suffield, at 10 a.m. with full military honors. Burial will be private.
