Hi Mary,
What a great job with the funeral. It was wonderful to see friends and family attend. The combat veteran dedications were perfect. These are well deserved and Brian was well loved by us all. We will always be here to support and as Brian would say, defend and protect. May our Lord and Savior grant you peace understanding and a renewed faith in the future. Hold on to the Promise. It's the only thing in life that lasts and makes any sense.

Brian was one of the good guy's. He was a man with integrity. Was always there for anyone when times were tuff or they were down we all will miss, but by the same token will have great memories of him.

Karl: I rode in that orange van too. My wife and I still laugh at the bumper sticker he had on the back that said: Don't laugh. Your daughter might be in here. I served with Brian on the USS Berkeley and he was in our wedding in 1973 while stationed at Bremerton,WA shipyards. We had not seen Brian in over 40 years and planned to drive to see him this summer. I am so sad to hear of this news. I plan to come to the memorial and will bring some old pictures of him and that van. Best wishes to the family. Regards.

Brian was a Great friend of mine, I will never forget him and his great sence of humor. He was always there to offer support or advise when I needed it. He will be missed by all who knew him, and he will be missed but never forgotten by the Alphas of Northern Illinois. Prayers to his family . Mike Dobbs and the Alphas of Northern Illinois

Karl, you mentioned a new beginning for Brian so I rejoice with you in that firm believe. I'm so glad that you have wonderful memories to cherish for the rest of your life but I know those are tempered for the time being with the loss of your only brother. May God use you to encourage your family and friends and remind them of God's perfect love, timing and that He never makes any mistakes. Your long time friend in our Lord and Savior.

Thanks everyone for your support and prayers. I will never forget riding with Brian in those orange 1970s Dodge vans he had in the Coast Guard and Navy. He had a hat that covered the Sun-brand dash mounted tach to keep it from getting stolen. There was Cindy his black lab that rode with us. She liked to run away during thunderstorms and yet she always came back. Brian, mom, dad and I all loved that dog, too. We are all of course saddened by the loss of Brian. He brought great joy to Freeport and all who knew him. I believe Brian is in a better place now, without pain or suffering and that light came on in his heart and mind with his own peace with God that we all need to make. As Billy Graham would say death isn't the end, it's really the beginning. We are all thankful for a future hope and salvation that passes our limited and brief understanding of life. I do know and remain confident that the message of the Cross does changes lives and secures our eternity. Thanks again for the notes, compassion, your thoughtfulness and prayers. On behalf of Brian, Mary and Ben and the family we are all overjoyed that you care.
