Helen Kachichian Obituary

RACINE - Helen Ann (nee: Christensen) Kachichian, 85, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at her residence, Primrose Retirement Community in Racine. She was born in Racine on August 26, 1930 to Christ and Agnes (nee: Winther) Christensen. On September 11, 1954 Helen was united in marriage to Sam “Socko” Kachichian, at St. Mesrob Armenian Church. She and Sam met while she was working as a secretary at Massey Harris Co. as Sam would call on them for business. Helen enjoyed knitting, sewing, bowling with her morning coffee clutch league and golfing at Washington Park. Mostly she loved raising her children and keeping a well maintained household. Later in life at the age of 48, she attended American Beauty College for cosmetology, as she always had a love and passion for hair and beauty. Helen was also known for her awesome chocolate chip cookies. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, the love and care giving she gave to her mother, Agnes and husband, Sam; but mostly for her courageous, brave spirit and strength she had, especially this past year. Helen is survived by her children, Michael (Faryn) Kachichian of DePere, Mary (Bob) Stoewe, Jennifer (Rich) Miller all of Racine; grandchildren, Drew and Paige Kachichian, Cameron and Sammantha Stoewe, and Allison, Anna and Christian Miller. She is further survived by, brother, James (Hildagarde) Christensen, sister-in-law, Mabel Christensen and, brothers-in-law, Donald Sack and Larry Koleske, in addition to nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear friends. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Sam on August 12, 2009; brothers, Carl Christensen and Gordon (Martha) Christensen, sister, Mary Tucker and nephew, Tommy Christensen. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Zarling officiating. Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Sam at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. For those wishing to remember Helen in a special way may make donations to either Epiphany Lutheran Church or one’s personal choice. Helen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Primrose for the beautiful home and care they provided the past six months.
