Anastasia Lane Obituary

Lane, Anastasia M. "Stacia" (Nee Grubba ). passed peacefully on April 22, 2015. She was born April 4, 1919, the third youngest of 13 children. Stacia is lovingly survived by one sister Anita (Jim) Mills; her children Nancy (Dave Smith) Lane, Sally (John) Adams, Gordon (Jean) Lane and Joan (Ken) Nelson; her grandchildren Kathryn (Phil) Glomski, Kevin (Megan) Lane, Kristen Lane, Michael Smith, Kenneth Smith and Laura Smith, Elizabeth (Shaun) Powers, Matthew Adams, Anna Nelson and Greta Nelson; her first expected great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Stacia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Kenneth Lane, her 8 brothers and 3 sisters and her parents. Stacia was born in Briggsville, WI, a small farm town. Her father built their home around his original log cabin. Stacia rode her horse to a one-room school house. She was smart and loved to learn. As an adventurous young adult, she left the farm for Milwaukee to nanny and later work at a company that produced precision instruments during WWII. Stacia took pride in her work and earned several awards. She loved to dance and met her future husband, Ken, at the Eagles ballroom. They married, started a family and built their own home in Elm Grove. They raised their children with an abundance of love, laughter and delicious baked goods. Stacia's involvement with St. Mary's, Girl Scouts, bridge clubs and the YMCA led to cherished friendships. She discovered her own creative talent and for years her folk paintings, inspired by childhood memories, were displayed and sold at galleries and art fairs. Stacia and Ken danced, entertained, traveled, enjoyed friends and relaxed at the lake. They especially delighted in time with their children and grandchildren. After Ken passed, Stacia indulged her passion for travel and crossed fantastic destinations off of her bucket list. Anastasia will be remembered for her feisty, fun-loving personality, her strength and determination, her warmth and hospitality. Her paintings will be admired and her signature recipes will be baked. She loved deeply and was greatly loved as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Thank you to Congregational Home of Brookfield for providing skilled care to Anastasia the past three years. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28 at St. Mary Visitation Parish, Elm Grove (1260 Church St.) from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM, followed by graveside services at St. Mary Cemetery. Flowers or memorials to the charity of your choice appreciated.
