Richard Albert Obituary

Albert, Richard "Dick" Age 82, of West Bend, was called home on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Froedtert Medical Center in Wauwatosa. Dick was born on September 14, 1931 in Madison to the late Richard and Amelia (nee Juve) Albert. In 1948, Dick enlisted in the United States Air Force and served a portion of his enlistment during the Korean Conflict. Dick was united in marriage to Colette Dittrich on August 17, 1951 in Iron Mountain, Michigan. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2011. Dick worked to Pabst Brewing Company for 23 years and eventually retired from Johnson Controls in 1994. Dick was a master craftsman in all facets of life. He was a great story teller who loved to joke and sing. In earlier years, he sang in a barber shop quartet. At 82 years, he still carried a sweet, rich tenor voice we had the joy and privilege of listening to at all occasions. Everyone he met, he touched their lives in some way. He was so very rich in friends and greatly adored by his family. Dick is survived his children, Elise (John), Michele (Dennis), Christiane (James), and Kirsten (Brian); his grandchildren, Kirsten, Laine (Brian), Brooke (Andrew), Sam, Hannah, Chelsea, Richard, Wylie, Gabe, Liv, and Delaney; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Gracie, Ava, Marley, Cosette, Vivian, and Lucy; a sister Jane Krebs; and many other close relatives and dear friends. An Open House Celebration of Dick's life will be held at his home (149 Woodridge Rd., West Bend, WI 53095) on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please bring a smile and a story. No dark attire requested. I knew your Dad when he worked at Johnson Controls..my favorite greeting ritual was when Dick would raise his arm up to show you his muscles and ask, "hold on and tell me when you are there!". Always said in jest with a twinkle in his eye and a hearty laugh. He was a wonderful gift of human spirit; I am better for having known him.

I'm sorry to hear of Dick's passing. One of my last chance meetings with both him and Collette was several years ago at a Quizno's. They were grabbing a bite to eat and heading out to a movie. You could tell they were still very much in love. They acted like teenagers on a first date.

I'll miss Dick's genuine, salty demeanor. I still use several of his sayings, like "grab on and tell me when you're there" or "soak the potatoes". He will be missed.

One of my very favorite cousins - always took the time to play with the kids, push you in a swing, share a laugh and a song. That huge smile and beautiful shock of hair and kind, loving spirit will always be in my heart. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a great and talented man. Love and hugs and prayers to all of you. He would want you to be happy.

Your father will always be an important part of my memory collage. When visiting with the family, he always made me feel at home. His cheerful personality was an inspiration. Despite the years which have passed, when I recall something he had said or done, it still evokes a warmness, a smile.
