To the Sartin family. Mr. Sartin had a deifinite effect upon me as he student taught at E.E. Phillipp Grade School in 1957. He was the first person of color that I had ever gotten to know as a person. The way he carried himself and his intelligence broke all the stereotypes that were abounding in that era. You have a right to be proud of your heritage. I learned the academics from him but more importunity, I learned humanity.

Coach Sartin,
You took us higher than we ever thought we could achieve. Because of your drive, smarts and never say die attitude, we became the first African American Cross Country team at Lincoln HS to become State Champions in 1963. You touched a lot of lives my brother, and will truly be missed. With Deepest Sympathy,

To the Family:
What a great person and true educator Mr. Obbie Sartin was to all. I was a student of his at Samuel Morse Jr. H.S. Mr. Sartin was a straight forward person that believe you had to give your best to be the best. I thank him for lessons taught in school and in the community. May the Lord bless the entire family as you too will continue to see and hear about his true calling "Education".
Always with prayers. To my cousin Charlene love you and know I am a telephone call away.
