I can still hear the laughter that echoed from my moms kitchen on Friday nights, when Laverne and the gang had their weekly card game. These gathherings were not a group of seniors getting together to compare ailments, they were there to enjoy life and live it. Laverne's contagious youthful spirit was truly inspiring and she was an example of how we should all embrace our time on this Earth. My condolences to all she has left behind but our loss is Heaven's gain.

Many years ago there were very happy times in our Mequon home on River Rd when the cousins, aunts and uncles got together for the holidays. Laverne is remembered by her humor and strength as mother of a large family. Her sons, Timothy and Thomas being close to my age was just part of the fun during those times. Then there was the traveling "Women's Club" get together with loud levity of "conversations" that seem to go late in the night as us young ones were trying to sleep being hustled off to bed much earlier. That group sure had fun with those parties, LaVernes hearty laugh many times piercing the din of the group.
I'm sad to learn of LaVerne's passing. She will join her husband Art, and her son Tim who was lost so many years ago serving our country. I'm sure they are saving her a place somewhere close in heaven.

Laverne was a loving person who accepted everyone unconditionally. In the last couple of years I got to hear plenty of stories calling her just about every day. Mom made Jeanette feel as much a part of the family as her own children. She will be missed by everyone in the family as well as by her friends.

I am so sorry for the loss as I feel like I know LaVerne. Jeanette would always tell me "man I hope I am as feisty as LaVerne is". Dan's big heart must be breaking but she will always remain a big part of many people's lives. Including mine and I personally never met her. Thanks for sharing her with me Dan and Jeanette, love you guys.

My sympathy goes out to all of LaVerne's family at this time.
She was a wonderful person and she brought many hours of fun and happiness into my Mom's life as I am sure she did for many others. It didn't matter what Mom and LaVerne were doing; whether playing card games, talking on the phone or eating a meal together, it was always good times. I feel grateful that she was a part of our family's life.
She will surely be missed here; but I know God welcomed her with open arms.

Our deepest sympathies are with you all in your time of loss.
LaVerne will always hold a very special place in our hearts! She was an amazing, uplifting and youthfully spirited woman.
We hold many fond memories of times spent playing "Spite and Malice" with Billy and Dorothy (Mom) ~ oh my, the laughter, joy and fun they all shared! We lovingly referred to them as "The Three Musketeers."
She was a Wonderful example for all of us, and we shall miss her dearly.

Gramma McGurty was so thankful for all she was blessed with in this life. How beautiful to know someone who really got that the purpose of our life here on Earth is to prepare us for the next one - and when the time came, she was truly ready and wanting to enter the eternal one. She lived with faith, hope and love - what a role model for us all!
