Another New Year starting without you. It's been four years but sometimes it feels like four minutes! Everyone says it will get better with time, I wonder if that is really true because missing you never goes away or gets any easier for me. We were together more than we were apart and I think that's why it's so difficult. I loved you then, I love you now and I will love you forever. Until we meet again....

I've heard it said that Drummers have a special bond, almost a Brotherhood. Vodie, you and I certainly would confirm that. Watching people laugh at "Spinal Tap" in the theater, ( missing the really funny bits ) crossing paths and gigs, always smiling, comparing notes and keeping it in line and on time. We miss you, Brother.

Vodie - Our dearest brother-in law, uncle, friend. To say we miss you is an understatement. You were such a light in our lives; always smiling, always upbeat, always ready to make us laugh. Your quick wit and sense of humor will never be matched. Your talent was beyond measure, and watching you play was pure pleasure, because your joy came through in your music. We think of you every day, especially when we see anything having to do with the Packers or Iron Man. Our tradition of going to see every new Star Wars movie will never be the same - you won't be sitting there with us. We will always miss you, and we will always love you - you meant, and will always mean, so much to us. One year ago today the music left my life when I lost my best friend, soulmate and truly my better half. It was so sudden and unexpected that I still wait to hear your keys in the door or for the phone to ring with the "road call". Those last hours we shared were not enough to even begin to tell you everything I wanted to say and goodbye was never supposed to be one of them. They say time heals all wounds but this year has been more painful than words can describe as I've tried to carry on after the most kind, caring, loving, generous, talented and vibrant man I have ever met was called home to Heaven. I was blessed for 27 years and I will always love you with all of my heart...until we meet again. Your wife, Jodi

He had so very much LIFE in him and every thing that he did when
ever i saw him, the things i learnt while working with him,have to this very day been the key to my few successes along my way!
So i would say to all whom have had a bit of vodie in their lives,

I knew Vodie since The Haskels, but I got to know him during the 80's through Leroy Airmaster. I loved his music but he was the nicest guy and lots of fun. I remember when he met Jodie. He was devoted to her, from the start. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss, and for all the friends who lost a good buddy.

Although it's been many years since I jammed with Vodie, I will always remember him as a warm human being with an awesome talent behind the drum kit. Power, unique style and flair...that's what I recall. And always a genuine smile no matter what was happening. I'm even sorrier now that I hadn't gotten up to Milwaukee to see the band recently.

Vodie was not only one of the greatest drummers of all time, he was my dearest friend and bandmate for many years. Always upbeat, we shared so many great times together as a rhythm section and as best pals. From our old days with Slinky at Zak's, to the weekly rehearsals at our home in Shorewood, to just going out and having the best of times, Vodie was a true artist and a great, loyal friend. You are truly missed my brother!

Thirty years ago a drummer was playing at Will MacGregor's house that from the first beat blew us all away. Sitting there watching I could not see him because this guy used more symbols than anyone I've ever seen. Adjusting in my chair I saw the guy with a big smile playing at his best in his moment. A memory I will always have.
