Nicholas Wilcox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 2, 2013.
Wilcox, Nicholas A. "Nick" Nicholas A. "Nick" Wilcox of Milwaukee, after a long search, finally found peace on Thurs., March 28, 2013, at the age of 24 years. Nick was a wonderful young man. He was a loving son; quick to say "I love you" and bend down to give you a hug while trying to pick you up. He was a caring, fun-loving jokester of a brother. Nick was the youngest in the family, but was always protective of his older sisters. Being a devoted grandson, he was always there to lend a helping hand. Nick was admired by his nieces and nephews; they knew they could always have some fun with him, and he was a loving boyfriend to Kelly McGonagil. Nick was a responsible, motivated young man, and he wanted to make a difference and help people. Nick completed an associate degree at WCTC in criminal justice and was continuing to study at UW-Milwaukee, toward a career in law enforcement. He worked and attended school full-time while supporting himself completely. Nick was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. He enjoyed playing sports including, golf, baseball, and volleyball, as well as going fishing. Nick wasn't waiting for his life to start - instead he was enjoying every step. His infectious smile, the twinkle in his eye, and his quick laugh were all signs that Nick loved life. Most of all Nick will always be remembered for his compassionate heart. Nick will be sadly missed by his parents, Nicholas R. (Barb) Wilcox and Darlene (nee Meissner) (Tony) Igl; sisters, Melinda Wilcox and Andrea Wilcox; stepbrothers, Dan, Mike and Ryan; stepsister, Michelle; paternal grandparents, Nancy and Al Wilcox; girlfriend, Kelly McGonagil; nephews, Jordan and Mason; and nieces, Ashleigh, Mackenzie, and Briella. Nick is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Darwin and Alice Meissner. The visitation for Nick will be held from 10AM until the time of the 2PM funeral service on Sat., April 6, at Westbrook Church, 1100 Hwy 83, Hartland, WI 53029. The Reverend Mike Frans will be officiating. Burial will be held on Sunday, April 7, at 3PM at Lisbon Merton Union Cemetery (cemetery is located on the east side of Lake Five Road, North of Silver Spring Rd., (Please meet at the cemetery). In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated and will be used to set up a scholarship in Nick's name. Memorials can be made at ANY Associated Bank location - "For the Benefit of Nick A. Wilcox, or mailed to 1456 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc, WI 53066.

I was blessed to call this young man part of my extended family. Not only was he charismatic and fun loving, but was blessed with an old soul that found him sensitive to those who crossed his path. The circle of life finds us rejoicing in the birth of the newborn and finds us giving gratitude for those who have lived a long life and passed over to their next, but the loss of one so young, so full of the future envisioned makes his passing extremely difficult May his family and friends find peace in the knowledge that Nick is in a better place and that the day will come when again, Nick will make you smile and greet you with open arms in a place already prepared for all.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear family and girlfriend, we never met your loved one, but we were so hoping he would be found ok.
Perhaps it's the will of a higher Being that he was taken from you so young.
God Bless all of you and take heart that you had him while he was in his prime giving to others of himself.
I wish I could have met Nick as I am the mother of another loving soul like him.
Be happy and he will come around from time to time to show you he's there for you, just be willing to hold any sign in your hearts as a good sign.
Love,
Someone who cares and is praying for your loss of a beautiful person.

My heart goes out to the Wilcox Family; there is nothing worse than losing a child at such a young age. I have four boys between the ages of 26-30 and I could not imagine going through the pain your family is. I did not know Nick buy some of my son's friends did and said he was a wonderful young man. Nick's family and friends are in my prayers during this sad time.
