Lee Kass Obituary

Kass, Lee "Fega-Lee" (Nee Heiny) Passed away in Milwaukee, WI, Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the age of 76. Beloved wife of 56 years of Stanley Kass. Cherished mother of Michael (Diane), Leonard (Sandie) and Mark (Kaye) Kass. Loving grandmother of Kimberly (Justin) Woycke, Stephanie (fiance of Andy Dvorak), Daniel, Shelby, and Abby Kass. Dear sister of Lawrence (Susie) Heiny and Arlene (Marty) Zuckerman. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and many dear friends. Lee was born on Jan. 13, 1934, daughter of Lester and Esther Heiny in Milwaukee. She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee. During her college years she met her future husband, Stanley, at Pelican Camp in northern Wisconsin. They returned to Milwaukee after Stanley's naval service and started Skylark Automatic Vending, which became a major part of their life. Lee loved nature, swimming and her five grandchildren. She swam almost every day at the YMCA or the Jewish Community Center, becoming affectionately known as the "lady with the flippers." Lee loved to travel and visited many locations around the world. Among her favorites were her many trips to Hawaii, Florida, Mexico and Aruba with her family. She loved to walk the beaches and pick up shells. She spent many of her summer days at Rainbow Day Camp in Fredonia, reading to the campers and enjoying the nature setting. A service in honor of Lee's memory will be held on Sunday, May 30, at 11:00 AM, AT THE FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Lee Kass JCC Rainbow Day Camp Nature Endowment Fund through the Jewish Community Center of Milwaukee or to the Medical College of Wisconsin in memory of Lee Kass. Condolences from Terri Krasno-Cohee (and husband Doug) to the entire Kass family. I just spoke with Gene (and Barbara) who told me of Lee's passing. Doug and I were with Larry and Susie at Mitchell Polonsky's Bar Mitzvah where we learned of Larry's sister's illness. This news made us sad. With all our love, The Cohee Family

Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. I enjoyed hearing Adam recount his 'game days' spent with Grandma Kass-being first remembered by Grandma as "Stephie's friend".
