I was very sorry to hear about Doris. She and I belonged to the same doll club-Doll Scholars of Southweast Wi.We had a lot of good times together. I missed her when she did not rejoin a few years ago. We did talk once in awhile though.
The last time I talked to her was about 4 years ago. We had visited a high school friend of my husband's in Ca. who was a friend of Eddie Matthews senior and had Eddies Hall of Fame jacket framed in his living room. I asked how come he had it and he said Eddie gave it to him because they spelled his name wrong.Doris told our doll club about the work her son-in-law(Dr. Eddie Matthews Jr.) did in Central america and our club used his work there as our Christmas project. Doris was a very giving person who loved her family and friends very much. She will be missed by a lot of people.
Sincerely,
Nancy Splitstoser

On June 22, 1985 Doris became my mother-in-law, but for the 27 years that followed she was the only mother I had. She was a blessing in my life and I will cherish her memory always.

Kindness is doing something for somebody without expecting anything in return and that is how I remember Doris. Her love for sewing shined!!! Doris even sewed her swim gloves and swim suits as she attended my water classes at the Wisconsin Athletic Club. I remember being her bus partner on a day trip to Nancy's Notions and she talked the whole way there SEW excited to teach her grandchildren to sew. Doris always had a smile and a positive attitude.
Losing a loved one is never easy and my prayers and thoughts are with the Borchardt Family. Sincerely, Deb Kunath

I first met Doris about 11 years ago at an ASG meeting when she was giving a demo of her porcelian dolls. Since then I have taken classes, been at conferences, and many sewing events that Doris and I both attended. It was always a pleasure to be with Doris at these events. I really appreciated the group that she started at Frank's Sewing Center. This is a very special group that kept growing each month. Not only did Doris willing share her knowledge and skills, but was interested in learning new things from others. I will very much miss Doris as a friend and mentor. May your memories and those of her friends give you comfort at this difficult time. Doris was a very special person. God Bless all of Doris's family.

Doris shared all her enthusiasm and love of sewing with all of us. I truly appreciated the friendship she shared. Her club was the last one I joined and it became my favorite. She was one of the nicest people I've known. I will miss her,and think of her often.

Dear Darryl, Dawn, Fritzie, and Dale;
Your Mom was one of the nicest people I've ever met. She was always so kind, always had a positive view on life, and always had her sweet laugh. She was a good daughter to her Mom, was a great and fun ceramics teacher, and was a great artist (she could draw eyes like no one I've ever seen!). Your Mom was so nice and attentive toward my own parents, especially as my Dad got sick and my Mom aged; she never forgot to visit them. All the Barg family will miss her and send you our condolences. Renee (Barg) Wink

I truly had the most wonderful mother-in-law. Although, I never really felt like an in-law to her because she always made me feel like her own daughter. It just shows how loving and caring a person she was to her family and all who knew her. I will miss her so much, but am thankful for the time we had with her and for all of the wonderful memories she has left with us.

I was so sorry to hear about Doris' passing. I have only positive memories of my time with her through the sewing guild. She was always so nice and enthusiastic at meetings. Doris was a very talented sewer and shared her knowledge and experience with us.

Doris also knew my father-in-law from serving on committees when she lived in Franklin. She would ask about him and my mother-in-law and she was supportive and kind when we lost them.

I will really miss her smile and kind words and I know the other members of our guild feel the same way. You have my deepest sympathies. Take care.

I will always remember her wonderful, happy laugh.

I have many childhood memories of spending time with my Aunt Kay and Uncle Chet often at your house (when your family had cows) You would let me bottle feed the calves and showed me how to let them suck on my fingers. Before then, I had never been around cows! Your mom got me interested in the Candettes and I enjoyed being a part of that for a couple years. Your mom was my Aunt Kay's best friend for many many years.
Doris was a wonderful energetic person who brought everyone around her so much joy. She was a very friendly person with a huge heart.
I'm so very sorry to hear of her passing.
My deepest sympathies to your family.

Borchardt Family, my thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. Doris was a kind and caring person. I used to take doll classes at her house, which I enjoyed a lot. Doris and I went to NYC together, the Fireside to see her grandaughter Holly perform and other fun times together. She will be missed, by many people. She is in a better place now. May she rest in peace. MARY MOORE OAK CREEK
