Paul Janowiec Obituary

Paul David Janowiec died peacefully September 21, 2011 at home in Monmouth, Oregon. He was born February 12, 1948 in Chicago. After growing up in rural Illinois, he moved to Southern California for his high school and early college years. It was there that he met his future wife, Paula.

He graduated from California State University and West Virginia University with masters degrees in Psychology, Social Work and Public Administration.

Paul dedicated his life to helping others, holding numerous positions in the mental health and social work fields. His unique perspective on life gave him the ability to advocate for his clients, usually those with special needs. Throughout the tenure of his career, he enjoyed a wide variety of roles including school psychologist, special education director, mental health clinician, drug and alcohol abuse counselor, social worker and executive director of several organizations.

After retiring, he moved to Oregon and spent the last several years building his dream home. He was quite proud to serve as contractor and oversaw the design and completion of a truly unique home. Originally a school house built in 1872, he made sure to honor its legacy, including a bell tower and filling it with antiques. Affectionately known as the "School Yard", Paul dedicated his time and energy into turning the property into a thriving yet peaceful haven.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Paula and two daughters Lexie and Callan. He was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Virginia.

He was cremated and a celebration of his life was held Saturday, September 24th at the School Yard.

Paul's family would like to deeply thank the community, friends and family for their thoughts, support and love.
