I first met Christine in January 1992 at our first day of nursing school. She sat next to me and my first thought was my god this is the prettiest girl I have ever seen. Those eyes and that beautiful smile, I felt so ordinary. We quickly became friends, and were each other’s support throughout nursing school. I learned there was much more to miss Christine than her pretty face - quick wit, smart, confident and loyal. We studied together every day in the cafeteria at KVCC while eating grilled cheeses and french fries (extra salt of course- salt on everything ) almost daily.
We remained close friends after our graduation in 1994. In and out of each other’s lives thru marriages, divorces and having our babies. Morgan and Gavin - your mom’s greatest desire and goal was to be a mom above all else. She couldn’t wait to finish school so she could start a family - her favorite topic to talk about all those years ago over grilled cheese and fries. It is one of my warmest memories of your mom, feels like yesterday. My second is when she took me to Hudson’s to pick out lipstick because I had never worn lipstick before, and it is still the only shade I wear to this day.
Even though our friendship was not daily I knew our bond to each other remained all these years. I knew if I ever called her she would be there for me or my boys - and for that I am and will be eternally grateful to her.

I worked with Christine at WMU. She was a dear friend and incredibly smart and funny. Christine lived and died on her own terms. Her legacy are her wonderful kids and all of us whose lives were made better by knowing her. We will always cherish our memories of her.

I worked with Christine at Jewel Food Store for years. She was always sunshine and brought love and laughter to everyone who knew her. I was lucky to call her my friend. This is such heartbreaking news. My thoughts and prayers go out to her entire family.
