Just learned of Glee's passing. It is like losing a member of the family. Glee and my mother, Maybelle (Ruby) Bales, were born on what he always maintained was the same day in rural Burdett KS in April 1921. He was always a great friend of the family, as well as our attorney. We were always proud of him as he progressed through the legislature and beyond. He stayed in touch with my mother, especially on her (their) birthdays, until her death in 2013. I live part-time in the farmhouse where she was born. He will be missed and represents the end of a generation.

Glee will be missed but will remain always in my heart... Loved his stories of how Geri and he met and that he loved her from the moment he saw her!!! Their love and devotion have been inspiring... It was an honor to get to know him.

There will always be an empty seat at First Presbyterian Church where Glee sat beside his beloved Gerry. He was a stately gentleman and a truly gentle man. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

One of the rewards of serving on the Kansas 4-H Foundation was serving along side people like Glee. Leadership, Vision, Wisdom, Caring, Friend - a few words that describe Glee Smith. Dan Bonine

Glee was, as a Regent, responsible, hard-working, effective, tilted just a tad toward KU; he was a good guy and fun to be with.

I am very sad to hear of Glee's passing. He and your family were a big part of our family's lives in Larned as we children were growing up. Although his impact was great in his efforts on behalf of the State of Kansas and KU, it was most significant in all the lives he touched along the way. What special memories remain. Thank you Glee, with most sincere condolences for his loved ones.

Sorry to hear of Glee's passing. My condolences to his family. Didn't know Glee personally, met him a few times when we used to cut wheat for his dad and family in Rozel. My brother from Kingman KS sent me told me of his passing and was happy to see what a wonderful man he became.

Rest Glee, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.
