Rose P. Barnes

KANSAS CITY, KS - Barnes, Rose P. (Pfannenstiel), daughter of Andrew and Mary Rose (Gassman) Pfannenstiel, passed away at 9:46 am, October 23, 2011 at her home in Kansas City, KS. She was 94 years old. Rose was 2nd generation born in the United States of Volga-German ancestry. The Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2646 S 34th Street, Kansas City, KS 66106. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66102. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm. Rose was born June 17, 1917 in Schoenchen, Kansas. She was a homemaker, wife, and mother. She worked as head of the school lunch program for Sacred Heart Grade School, Kansas City, KS during the 1970's, volunteered at the Senior Citzens' Thrift Shop, Kansas City, KS in the 1980's, was a true "Rosie the Riveter" for Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, KS, working on B-29's, wokred in various cafes over many years, and was a 2002 Charter Member of the National World War II Memorial. Rose married Ralph S. Barnes on February 8, 1946, who preceded in death on March 22, 1989. Rose was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers Francis, Herman, Wilfred, Arthur, and Cyril, sisters Cecilia Leikam, Eleanor Peitz, Alberta and Mary Louise. Survivors include, sons Michael of the home, James and wife Gail of Hudson, NH, Jon of Medina, OH, grandsons Brian of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher of Medina, OH, granddaughters Susan of Dublin, CA, Anna, Sara and Katrina of Medina, OH, 1 great grandson, Dylan Lopez of Dublin, CA, brother, Eugene and wife Josie of Las Vegas, NV, sister, Mildred Orsbon of Wichita, KS, numerous neices and nephews.
