Eric was the most amazing person I have ever known. If I could go back and do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing. He had that personality that lightened my heart and my soul. I will always love and miss my dear husband. For those of you that have written in, I would like to thank you. And Eric, this is not goodbye, only goodnight my love. I love you Eric M. I sit here slumped in my chair knowing there is nothing to say to ease the heartache. Our son Eric was KIA in Iraq
June 24th 2007. Both a true American hero. For in the middle of the word amERICan is the name ERIC and when the name ERIC is removed it spells A MAN. Thank you both for your service and the love for others you gave.

Me and Eric didnt hang out that much but when he did come with his brother and hang out he was a cool calm and very genuine person. I've Always heard the good die young and its so sad to imagine that it could be true.

Eric was amazing. He was such a great person to be around he always made everyone smile. We grew up together so in my eyes he was like a brother. His Father and my Father were long time friends. I remember going to his house and just hanging out and playing with him and Clayton. I'm so sad that Eric is gone he'll be greatly missed. His memory will live on forever in our minds and hearts. My dad passed away back in September and I know Eric is in heaven with him and of course with the Lord so he's in great hands. R.I.P Eric I love you.

Sandy & Family-While I did not know Eric, I did know Sandy as a previous member of the All Saints parish. I am certain that your son is in the presence of God, and will now serve as a guardian angel for other military men/women...he served as the hands and feet of Christ on earth. The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Eric Nettleton our Brother-in-Arms . To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Eric. And to Eric it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Eric, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

To the Nettleton family and friends, I did not know Eric but I was driving by his funeral this morning and was moved at how huge the gathering was in Eric's honor. It made me wish I had known Him. As a graduate of West High ('74) and life long Wichita resident, I felt the need to express my deep sadness for your loss. It is also a great loss for our city, state, and country. Words cannot describe how sorry I am for the loss of Eric, know that God is taking great care of him. When Michael told us the news we were very saddened. Know that you and the family are in our prayers constantly and will remain that way. We attend Christ the King Catholic Church in Lake Charles Louisiana and we will have the Sanctuary candle burning in memory of Eric for the next several months. Dear Nettleton Family,
Each time I try to write this, I have to close it because I break down crying. Dear Sandy - - - you were the only non-family daycare provider my little Josiah Garrity (youngest son) ever had. The only woman I ever trusted with my youngest son. You came highly recommened to me by your church member Joyce Kester. You taught and mothered many during your daycare years. Josiah and Clayton went on to be friends and graduate together. I can still see Josiah, Chase (Moses-my nephew), and your kids playing at the house. Later sharing birthday parties together. Josiah told me the young man that we lost was your Eric, it made me breathless. I would first like to thank you for your son serving for all of us. There just aren't words to say mother to mother. I saw Clayton talking about his brother.....I'm so glad our sons grew up together. It just struck me that you mothered many, taught our young ones to read....Eric went on to protect his country. Standing up for little ones he did not even know. Your family is in our prayers...my heart is very full for you.
