Sue & family - We are so sorry for your loss. Don did many great things for Calvary Chapel church as well as the school. I close with something I read after my mom died that touched my heart; I hope it will touch all of your hearts as well. "Even though you sorrow greatly, may it give you comfort knowing that great sorrow can only be known where there was great love." Love & prayers to all.

I have so many memories in the church, kids camp, sleepovers, being at the school, studying at home, bible studies, countless hours of play practice/talent shows and years in the classroom. Memories of teachers and leaders and pastors and friends...we were all brought together by Don and the Duncan family. Don came to our dad's funeral in 2002 and it was one of the best hugs we didn't even know we needed. You're always in our thoughts and prayers. You'll always be remembered - say hello to everyone upstairs. Until we meet again.
All our love from the family of Richard Thomas (Formerly of Calvary Chapel Wichita)

Don was both my pastor and my friend. We reconnected about a year ago and he recently sent me his 1989 study on Romans.....the best I've ever heard. I thank the Lord for bringing us back together....I was blessed by that. I will listen to his teaching til I see him again. My deepest sympathy and love for Sue and their family.

My condolences to Sue and family. Love you guys. I am sorry that I will not be able to be there at the service. You are in my prayers and if you need anything please let me know.

I first knew of Don by listening to his teaching on the radio in the 90s, while living in Wichita. We moved to Sedan in 96 and around 2000 I met a guy in Sedan whose voice sounded very familiar. To my surprise, it was the Pastor and teacher from the radio whom i had grown to love. Finally, I met Don face to face. We became close friends and I had the pleasure of his friendship, pastorship, teaching ,and mentorship. Of course, his lovely wive Sue was a blessing, as well. They were always ministering and building the kingdom. They gave so much to the people and communities that they touched. One day they moved away and I was so sad to see them leave, but still kept in touch occasionally. Recently, lifes' events brought me back to Wichita and I was able to recconnect with Don. My wife and I had both agreed that Calvary Chapel Fellowship of Wichita was where we would worship and fellowship. Once again, I had the joy of reuniting with Don. He was taken too soon in my mind, but I look to the Lord to fulfill His Word, and my faith remains in him. Don was a pillar of the faith and I will miss him greatly. I have great memories of Don and these I will cherish. Don has blessed us with a great heritage and very soon we will reunite and rejoice with him again in our inheritance and eternal live in the presence of our great God and Savior, Abba Yehovah and Yeshua Ha Mashiach. Shalom brother. Looking for the Lord's soon return and the restoration of all things. Brother John Germann

Don played a big part in our family and will be missed. My husband had known Don more years than I did. Carl discovered Don through the radio ministry. A year after we were married we started attending Calvary Chapel. I grew to love Don and his family as well. I had the privilege of serving on the school board. I saw that Don truly had a sense of humor and was an down to earth person. Don fought the good fight, now it is time for him to reap his heavenly rewards. Thank you for pouring out of yourself, teaching God's word and telling of God's unconditional love. We will miss you the Ligons.

God put such a love in Don for all ages as well as Sue and their children. My parents took us to Calvary around the very early 80's in Wichita ks. We made friends with Don and Sue's kids and my parents worked in the ministry. When I was nine I had to be hospitalized with chicken pox and Don came to see me he wasn't able to come in the room so he made me smile over a tv monitor that was in the room. When I was broken hearted due to my Mom passing in Sept. Don and his family came.I was able to see Don and Johnny and got hugs.Don said kind words to make me smile.Don just cared so much for everyone. Thank you all so much for sharing yourselves, and the love of Jesus with all of us! I will continue to pray for you all! Love- Angie

Don and I go way back. I will never forget our time together as pastoral interns in the late 70's in Southern Cal before he went to Wichita and I went to New Jersey a few years later. Don was one of he original pioneers to plant a Calvary Chapel outside Southern California. I am blessed to have known him. He had to deal with me being a snarky 21 yr old at the time of our intern period and I used to drive him crazy. I still remember the hammer he left dangling out of my office wall after a particularly annoying antic I pulled on him.

But he was always a great encouragement to me despite my immaturity at the time. We had sort of "outdo one another" thing that left me thinking if he can go to Kansas then I can do one more and go to New Jersey.

I wish I had pics of those days but who carried around a camera back then? Not like today. Though I regret I missed the service due to two big committments I could not get out of here I want those in his family to know my prayers are with you.

Don left his best legacy with all you in the family. He is doing great but you guys are going to be losing a wonderful example and man of God in you lives. I am so sorry!

I will never forget Don Duncan. He was the first significant spiritual influence in my formative years as a believe. I was effectively grounded in the faith through Don's dedication to teaching God's Word, making the Old and New Testament understandable and applicable for the present day Christian. Thank you Don, for everything.

I only attended church at Calvary a handful of times, but I remember each sermon as if it was just yesterday. Don had an amazing way of knowing how to direct the sermon to everyone individually. He was an amazing man and pastor. My husband Eric speaks so highly of him and became a wonderful man through the guidance and wisdom of Don. He will truly be missed and loved for years to come.

After traveling with Don and his daughter on a trip following the footsteps of Paul, we became friends and I appreciate his sense of humor and utter complete commitment to Jesus Christ. Earth is a little poorer today but our friend Don is in the presence of Bis Jesus and we aren't too far behind Him. Maranatha!

Calvary Chapel with Pastor Don and Susan was the experience I needed to return to learning about a loving version of God and mankind. I enjoyed the tape ministry and Wednesday classes. He was an inspiration whom I know will be missed by so many people. I am saddened by his passing, but feel blessed to have been included in his teachings. Many prayers for his family. Pastor Don was a "people" pastor. He loved and cared for not only his family and his congregation but also for all those he met. I met Pastor Don when he came to Calvary Chapel of El Paso to be a guest speaker. He affected many lives here in El Paso. The Lord blessed Wichita with Pastor Don for many years. The Lord bless you, Sue and your family.

We joined Haverhill Christian Church with Don as our Sunday school teacher. We so enjoyed his style of teaching and love for our Lord. Our daughter Natalie at age 8 or 9 would sneak into our adult class because she learned so much from him! Don touched so many lives. He will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with you !

I attended Don Duncan's Church in Wichita in the 80's and 90's. He was a great teacher. He taught me to study God's Word the exegesis way. Always bring out the true text and never read into it. I will always be eternally grateful to him and to his wife. They helped me get through some tough times and encouraged me very much in my relationship with the Lord. The world will miss him. I know my husband and I will miss him. God Bless.

Pastor Don was as a father to me. He may not have known this. I did not have a father growing up. I entered the doors of Calvary on Kansas street at age 19. Pastor Don baptized me at Lake Afton, in summer of 1988.--K. L. Johnson
